Why We Believe Giving Matters – but not to US!

The statement you are about to read may be a first for you.

Eastchester Church does not ask for nor does it require donations. But everyone is expected to GIVE.

Let’s be clear. The church welcomes the financial generosity of those who wish to contribute. Many people send contributions which we are able to use for individuals and families in need, special projects, unexpected emergency repairs and the like. When the church was in trouble financially, we asked God, actually we demanded of God, to act if He desired to keep the church doors open. We started a ministry for our neighbors called Lincoln Academy a program for children ages 3 to 5. Today over 100 children grace our property with their presence daily. The service-related revenue maintains the campus and yes, keeps the church open. I believe it would an act of greed to demand a donation when God has already provided.

But everyone is expected to GIVE! Generosity is at the heart of Jesus’ message and ministry. As disciples we look to our example and try to act in ways that Jesus did. During Covid, I started to request of all those connected to Eastchester Church to look around at those in your families, your neighborhood, people in financial crisis, someone lost their job, people you know who are sick, people alone, people suffering loss, those who beg of you in the street, approach your car window, or some driver who just cut you off. These are all samples of opportunities to GIVE. I think you get it. If you would give the church $5 then place it in an envelope and place it under a car windshield of a neighbor in need. Give your forgiveness to someone who really hurt you. Call a person who is going through a hard time. Visit the sick. Sometimes being generous with our time is more difficult than separating from a $5 bill.

However – If you would like us to provide for someone or a family in need, support the church directly then please send to Eastchester Church 11 Woodlot Rd, Eastchester, NY 10709.

Thank You for GIVING!
